Job description

This job is located in North Houston.

Perform all required tasks to produce products on CNC machines.

VTL Experience Required

Okuma Live Tool Lathe.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Able to follow detailed work instruction (verbal and written) to setup and operate CNC machines.
  2. Validate machine programs and work instructions before machining to assure accuracy of operations.
  3. Select tooling, holding fixtures, and needed accessories to operate and maintain CNC machine.
  4. Determine machine reference points and tooling offsets, enter required machine reference points and offsets into machine control.
  5. Set up and run CNC machine for first article to prove out program and set up instructions.
  6. Make any necessary changes and save proven program in master file.
  7. Notify the programmer of any needed changes to program or set up instruction to fix or improve the process.
  8. Process remaining parts while conducting constant checks and inspections to ensure dimensional and surface finish requirements are being met for the entire part run.
  9. Able to read and interpret (GD&T) geometric dimensions and tolerances.
  10. Proficient in the use of various measuring instruments calipers, micrometers, dial bore gauges, micro height etc.
  11. Proficient in deburring, tapping, and polishing to all required dimensions and surface finishes.
  12. Temporary assignment to various Atec facilities may be required as needed to support Atec operations.
  13. Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
  14. Ensure activities are conducted in accordance with Atec International Standards Organization (AS9100/ISO) policies and correct and report any deviations to appropriate area manager/supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
AS9100/ISO SPECIFIC DUTIES
  1. Be familiar with and understand Atec Quality Policy and company objectives.
  2. Understand required AS9100/ISO specific Procedures and Work Instructions.
  3. Complete all records required by Procedures and Work Instructions.
  4. Participate in Atec Continuous Improvement activities as appropriate (including Strategic Planning, AIM, Suggestion box, etc.).
  5. Participate in AS9100/ISO training as required.
  6. Cooperate with Auditors.
  7. Report any deviations to appropriate area manager/supervisor.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

One to two years of technical or vocational college or 5+ years related experience and/or training; or combination of education and experience.

Ability to work with mathematical concepts and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms, and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus, good eyesight, by lenses if necessary.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and machinery.

Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Extended work hours and/or travel may occasionally be required.
