Job description

Join to apply for the CNC Machinist - Okuma Live Tool Lathe role at Atec, Inc.

This position is located in North Houston.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform all required tasks to produce products on CNC machines.
  2. Follow detailed work instructions (verbal and written) to set up and operate CNC machines.
  3. Validate machine programs and work instructions before machining to ensure accuracy.
  4. Select tooling, holding fixtures, and accessories to operate and maintain CNC machines.
  5. Determine machine reference points and offsets, and input them into the machine control.
  6. Set up and run CNC machines for first articles, make necessary adjustments, and save proven programs.
  7. Communicate with programmers regarding program or setup changes.
  8. Conduct inspections during production to ensure dimensional and surface finish requirements are met.
  9. Read and interpret GD&T drawings.
  10. Proficiently use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and dial bore gauges.
  11. Perform deburring, tapping, and polishing to meet specifications.
  12. Support other facilities as needed and perform related duties to ensure efficiency.
  13. Adhere to Atec International Standards Organization (AS9100/ISO) policies, report deviations.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Understand and comply with Atec Quality Policy, participate in continuous improvement, and cooperate with audits.

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of technical/vocational training or 5+ years of related experience, or a combination.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts, geometry, and trigonometry.

Physical Demands:

  • Stand, sit, walk, use hands, lift up to 50 pounds, and have good eyesight (possibly with lenses).

Work Environment:

  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, loud noise, extended hours, and possible travel.
