Job summary

Pursuit Aerospace is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to perform all aspects of the machining process for manufacturing products in Plainville, Connecticut. This position requires 2–5 years of relevant experience and involves operating manual and CNC machines independently.

About The Opportunity

Pursuit Aerospace is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to perform all aspects necessary for the machining process used in the manufacturing of company products. The CNC Machinist will create assignments by defining objectives, priorities and deadlines, and assists fellow employees with unusual situations that do not have clear objectives. Additional, specific instructions are given for new, difficult, or unusual assignments. The employee uses initiative in carrying out recurring assignments. The machinist will review the work for technical adequacy and conformance with practice and policy. Location: Plainville, CT – This position is 100% on site, Monday through Friday with overtime available. (1st shift: 7:00 am–3:30 pm)

Responsibilities
  • Operates manual, CNC machines to perform completely and independently specific operations as outlined in the methods and process sheets. Learns machines for other processes and programs.
  • Change, set and adjust precision tools as required.
  • Load and delete programs in the computer.
  • Make minor adjustments of feeds and speeds on the assigned machine.
  • Grind own cutting tools and drills (other than special purpose tools).
  • Consistently maintain specific tolerances and accurately perform dimensions.
  • Check parts using specified gages or check parts using furnished fixtures to see that dimensions are being maintained.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks, reporting improper machine function and/or check parts not being held to the proper dimensions.Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
  • Follow all applicable safety rules and precautions.
  • Other job‑related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • 2–5 years relevant experience
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full‑time basis without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full‑time basis.
  • Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Able to read, write, and speak in standard English.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Knowledge of shop geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and blueprints.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before employees in the organization.
  • Have working knowledge of the machinability of metals.
  • Demonstrate a good mechanical aptitude.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 7+ years relevant experience.
Working Conditions
  • Must be able to have prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
  • Personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses and safety shoes) is required on the shop floor.
  • Occasional weekend and evening work may be required to accommodate priorities, deadlines, and schedules.
