Salary: USD19 - USD35 per hour

CNC Machinist - Manual Lathe & Mill (Job Shop Environment)

Location: Fort Worth, TX
Schedule: Full-Time | 8-Hour Shift | Overtime Available

TrendHR is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist with manual machining experience on behalf of our client, a precision machining operation serving industries such as aerospace, industrial manufacturing, energy, and specialized equipment. Experienced machinist who enjoy precision craftsmanship, varied projects, and a true machining environment rather than repetitive production work.

This position is ideal for machinists who enjoy project-based work, tight tolerances, and a variety of machining challenges rather than repetitive production machining. Machinists in this shop regularly work with both CNC and manual equipment to produce precision components for custom customer orders.

Key Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC machining centers and CNC lathes

Operate manual lathes, mills, and other shop equipment

Read and interpret blueprints, machining drawings, and job specifications

Machine precision metal components to tight tolerances (often ±.0005")

Perform machine setups, tooling adjustments, and program offsets

Inspect parts using precision measuring tools

Work with materials such as steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and specialty alloys

Maintain organized work areas and follow shop safety procedures

Collaborate with shop leadership to ensure customer and purchase order deadlines are met

Machinists in this role will work with a variety of equipment commonly found in precision machining job shops, including:

CNC Equipment

  • Drill presses
Grinding & Finishing Equipment

  • Deburring equipment
  • Vibratory tumblers and polishing tools
  • Parts cleaning systems
Inspection & Measurement Equipment
  • Optical comparators
  • Surface plates and height gauges
  • Micrometers and calipers
  • Precision inspection gauges and measurement tools

These machines are used to produce custom and precision components in a job-shop environment, requiring machinists to move between machines and setups depending on the project.

This is not a high-volume production shop.

Our client operates in a project-based machining environment, producing custom components for specific customer orders. Machinists must be comfortable managing multiple setups, custom parts, and varied machining work rather than running the same part continuously.

Successful machinists in this role take pride in their work, understand the importance of meeting client deadlines, and enjoy solving machining challenges.

This position is best suited for career machinists who take pride in their craft and are comfortable working independently to produce precision parts from print.

As many machinists say in environments like this:
“Your toolbox better have wheels.”
