General Description

Operating a CNC to set‑up metal cutting machine tools, both manual and automated, and performing operations specified on job travelers. Ability to interpret blueprints and part specifications, select appropriate materials, tools and manufacturing processes. Knowledge of G‑code programming for II and III levels, inspection equipment, and CAD/CAM software. Experienced machinists may mentor lower‑level machinists and guide workflow for maximum efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Tend to one or more machine tools to machine metal and non‑metal work pieces.
• Complete routine machine maintenance.
• Lift up to 75 lbs.
• Load parts into CNC machining centers or manual machines as required.
• Inspect and measure work pieces to verify conformance to specifications using standard measuring tools.
• Read blueprint and job traveler specifications to determine proper tooling.
• Replace cutting tools and modify programs as required to maintain part quality.
• Maintain statistical reporting and retrieve/store programs to the database.
• Deburr and clean work pieces as needed.
• Interpret and edit CNC programs on Fanuc, Fadal, and Yasnac controls.
• Build fixtures as required to hold work pieces.
