Job summary

Snowline Engineering in Cameron Park, CA, seeks a CNC Machinist Level 2–3 to operate and set up metal cutting tools, interpret blueprints, and mentor junior machinists. The role requires experience with manual and CNC machines, good math and blueprint skills, and the ability to load parts and perform routine maintenance.

Eligible candidates will have a High School Diploma or GED, 5–10 years’ experience for Level II/III, and familiarity with materials such as stainless steel, titanium, aluminum,

• Familiarity with hand tools; basic blueprint skills (Level II or III).

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC machines (manual and CNC) and set up metal cutting tools.
• Interpret blueprints and specs to select materials, tools, and processes.
• Possess knowledge of G-code programming is desirable for Levels II/III; inspect with appropriate tools.
• Mentor lower level machinists and guide workflow for efficiency.
• Load parts in CNC centers or manual machines and perform routine maintenance.

Position: CNC Machinist Level 2 - 3

Hours: Monday - Thursday 2:00 PM - 12:00 AM

General Description

Depending on experience, responsibility may include:

• Operating a CNC to set-up of metal cutting machine tools both manual and/or including mills and lathes. To be responsible for properly placing work pieces in the machines and completing the operations specified on the job travelers.
• An ability to interpret blueprints and part specifications, knowing how to select the correct materials, tools and manufacturing for processes is a plus.
• Knowledge of G-code programming formats is desirable for the II and III levels along with a good working knowledge of inspection equipment and capability in selecting the proper inspection tool to verify product conformity to specifications. Working knowledge of programming techniques both at the machine control and via CAD/CAM software
• An experienced CNC Machinist will assist in mentoring lower level machinists and take an active role in guiding the overall workflow of the department for maximum efficiency

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Tend to one or more machine tools to machine metal and non-metal work pieces
• Complete routine machine maintenance
• Must be able to lift 75 lbs
• Load parts in a CNC machining centers or manual machines as required.
• Inspects and measures work pieces to verify conformance to specifications using standard measuring tools
• Reads blueprint and job traveler specifications to determine the proper tooling required to set up each operation
• Replace cutting tools as required to maintain part quality requirements
• Modify programs as required to meet product conformity
• Maintain statistical reporting
• Retrieve and store programs to the database
• Deburr work pieces as required
• Clean parts as required
• Capable of interpreting and editing CNC programs using Fanuc, Fadal, And Yasnac controls
• Read blueprint and job traveler specifications to determine the proper tooling required to set up each operation
• Build fixtures as required to hold work piece
• Observe operation of machine and verify conformance of work piece to specifications using standard measuring tools
• Modify programs as required to meet product conformity
• Replace cutting tools as required to meet product conformity
• Maintain statistical reporting
• Deburr work pieces as required
• Clean parts as required

QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Experience Requirements
