Job summary

nVent in Solon, IA seeks a CNC/ACME/Tool & Die Machinist to set up, operate, and maintain CNC and ACME tooling to produce machined parts per blueprints. You will follow safety procedures and uphold high quality standards.

You will work from drawings and instructions, inspect parts with micrometers and calipers, and help manage multiple machines. The role requires manufacturing knowledge, tool use, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. A $3,000 sign-on bonus is offered.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Experience following work instructions or reading blueprints.
  • Experience using hand and power tools.
  • Prior experience working in a light industrial facility preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment and meet operational deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and operates ACME/CNC/Tool & Die equipment to produce quality machined parts as specified by blueprints, layout, and templates.
  • Plans sequence of operations applying knowledge of materials.
  • Perform duties required to assist setup and operate multiple ACME / CNC / Tool & Die equipment simultaneously for a variety of machined products.
  • Work from drawings, route sheets, schedules, written, and verbal instructions.
  • Check material for correct size and type.
  • Use micrometers, calipers, scales, and fixed gauges to check work in process and ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Move materials in the performance of duties.
  • Install and check safety devices as needed for specific jobs.
  • Report faulty equipment, defective material and unusual conditions to supervisor.
  • Complete required quality checks/documents and production documentation.
  • Observe all prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain work area in a neat and orderly condition.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or directed, which may require more than the normal shift hours or work week to meet company needs.
