Job summary

Classic Gears & Machining in Kaukauna, WI is seeking a CNC Lathe Machinist (1st or 2nd shift) to program, set up and operate precision CNC lathes to manufacture components that meet customer specifications. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of CNC lathe experience, can read blueprints, select tooling, and perform first-piece and in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, and gauges.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years CNC machining experience, preferably operating and setting up CNC lathes.
  • Experience programming and setting up CNC equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and manufacturing documentation.
  • Proficiency using precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges.
  • Strong math, mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Program, set up, and operate CNC lathe equipment to produce precision-machined parts.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, job travelers, and manufacturing specifications.
  • Select tooling, establish machine setups, and determine efficient machining processes.
  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring equipment.
  • Monitor machine performance and adjust to maintain dimensional accuracy and quality.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and implement improvements to reduce scrap.
  • Collaborate with machinists and production personnel on safety, quality, and productivity initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Work overtime as needed to support delivery schedules.

Behm Consulting is assisting Classic Gears & Machining in the search for an experiencedCNC Lathe Machinist to join the team. Opportunities are available on both1st and 2nd Shift.

*2nd Shift Premium = 10% of hourly rate
Position Summary

As a CNC Lathe Machinist, you'll be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC equipment to manufacture precision components that meet customer specifications. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing high-quality work while supporting a safe and efficient manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
