Job summary

Curtiss-Wright Corporation in Summerville, SC seeks a Machinist for large CNC vertical lathes. 1st shift, 7am-3pm. The role requires setup, interpretation of drawings, and strict quality control to tight tolerances. 3+ years of CNC lathe experience and DoD eligibility are preferred.

Candidate will operate Fives/G&L machines, maintain tools, and document results while following safety protocols in a modern facility.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
• Completion of a four-year machinist apprenticeship or equivalent is an asset.
• Minimum 3+ years in CNC machines experience operating vertical lathes.
• Experience operating Fives/G&L 1600, 2000, Momentum 2500 preferred.
• Ability to maintain quality and efficiency and communicate effectively.
• Capable of lifting 50 pounds and moving 10 feet.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate large vertical turret lathes to tolerances within 0.001”.
• Interpret blueprints, work instructions, and drawings to determine machining needs.
• Measure, test, and inspect finished parts for conformance.
• Select tooling and materials for each job.
• Maintain machines, perform minor repairs, and report issues.
• Monitor machining process and adjust feeds speeds tooling as needed.
• Document production and inspection results accurately.
• Follow safety procedures and keep a clean work area.
