Job summary

Smart Resources is hiring an experienced Machinist II in Ogden, Utah. You will set up and operate CNC mills and lathes, read blueprints, and produce precision components to exact specifications in a quality-driven shop.

Work with Haas, Okuma, and Cincinnati machines; read engineering drawings; troubleshoot issues; and support continuous improvement. Monday–Friday swing shift with overtime opportunities and potential temp-to-hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 3+ years of machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience setting up and operating CNC machining equipment.
• Strong blueprint-reading and dimensional inspection skills.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments.
• Ability to perform machine setups and make machining adjustments.
• Understanding of shop mathematics, tolerances, and machining principles.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and contribute effectively within a team.
• Strong commitment to safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and related machining equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and engineering drawings.
• Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and workholding solutions.
• Make machine adjustments and process corrections to maintain required tolerances.
• Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
• Troubleshoot machining and production issues.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance and support equipment maintenance initiatives.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Support continuous improvement efforts.
• Assist with training and supporting less experienced team members.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to improve processes and product performance.
