Job summary

Wastequip in Greenwood, KY is seeking a Machinist II to independently set up and operate CNC and manual machines to produce precise parts. The role emphasizes strong troubleshooting, quality conformance, and support for continuous improvement on the shop floor.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, GD&T, programming edits, tooling selection, and thorough inspections; proficiency with ERP systems is valued, and mentoring of Machinist I is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2–5 years of machining experience preferred.
• Proficient in blueprint reading.
• Working knowledge of CNC programming and offset.
• Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and materials.
• Fanuc controls a plus.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve routine machining issues.
• Experience with precision measuring instruments.

Responsibilities

• Independently set up and operate CNC and/or manual machines for a variety of parts.
• Read and interpret complex blueprints, GD&T symbols, and work instructions.
• Perform CNC program edits and basic programming as needed.
• Select tooling, speeds, and feeds to optimize production and quality.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary adjustments to maintain output.
• Perform advanced inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision tools.
• Ensure first-piece and in-process inspections meet quality standards.
• Reduce scrap and rework through proactive problem-solving.
• Accurately complete production and quality documentation in ERP/data systems.
• Assist in training and mentoring Machinist I employees.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives.
