Job description

Expected Salary:

$24.00 to $28.00 per hour

Brief Description

The CNC Lathe machinist is responsible for producing work efficiently while meeting drawing and planning specifications and requirements.

Key Accountabilities

• Knowledge of machining processes.
• Assist and complete set-ups with full supervision for the first two years.
• Perform and record accurate in-process quality inspections.
• Identify and recommend process improvements to reduce quality variation.
• Handle all phases of part operation set-up to achieve first article acceptance under supervision.
• Continuously improve processes, procedures, and eliminate waste.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Desirable Experience and Capabilities

• Basic knowledge of metals and measurements used in machining.
• 1-3 years of experience operating CNC mills/lathes.
• Skilled in inspection methods such as indicator, gauge, dial bore, and plate for first article and in-process inspection.
• Ability to maintain tolerances within .0005".
• Understanding of machine tool accuracies and tool offsets.
• Basic knowledge of cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and tool life for aerospace machining.
• Ability to follow instructions and interpret blueprints and quality requirements.
• Positive communication skills with employees and management.
• Ability to lift a maximum of 25 lbs (with assistance for over 25 lbs).
• Experience with AS9100, 5S, Lean, and Six Sigma is a plus.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; machinist schooling is a plus.
