Job summary

Gexpro Services in Brewton, AL is seeking a CNC Machinist I to operate CNC machinery safely and accurately, load materials, change tooling, read blueprints, program machines, and ensure safety, quality and schedule adherence. Reports to CNC Manager.

The role requires reading blueprints, maintaining quality, and ability to stand and lift up to 50 pounds in a manufacturing environment. Industry experience with mills/lathe setups is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; technical machining credentials preferred.
• 1–2 years CNC experience in manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret work instructions.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).
• Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Read work orders and blueprints to machine products accurately.
• Assist in inspections of equipment, materials, and products.
• Load raw materials and parts onto the machines.
• Monitor machines and adjust for quality and schedules.
• Select and load correct cutting tools for each job.
• Use precision measuring tools to verify dimensions.
• Document actions by completing production work orders.
• Inspect, clean and maintain machinery daily.
• Set up mills and lathes by installing fixtures, attachments and tools (plus).

CNC Machinist I Overview

The CNC Machinist I will be responsible for operating CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) Machinery safely and accurately to perform a variety of operations to produce metal various common and exotic for our product line. The employee would be responsible for loading and unloading metal parts, changing tooling, reading and interpreting design blueprints, programming the CNC machine, and adjusting the machine settings for the needed specifications. The CNC Machinist I will ensure safety, quality, and schedule requirements are met daily. The CNC Machinist I will report to the CNC Machinist III.

CNC Machinist I General Responsibilities

• Learn to read work orders and blueprints (materials, specifications, and geometric dimensions and tolerances) to machine products accurately
• Assist in inspections of equipment, materials, and products
• Prepares and loads raw materials and parts onto the machines
• Monitors the machines while they execute the tasks and makes any necessary adjustments to produce a better result
• Choosing, changing, and loading the correct cutting tools for the job
• Learn to utilizes precision measuring tools to inspect and measure products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly and meets quality standards
• Documents actions by completing production work orders
• Checks, cleans, and maintains machinery daily to ensure functionality
• Capable of setting up mills and lathes by installing fixtures, attachments, and tools necessary to complete jobs according to specifications is a plus

Qualifications

• Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent, certification or technical school in Machining
• 1-2 years of experience working with CNC machines or in a manufacturing plant preferred.
• Mechanical Aptitude
• Able to read and interpret work instructions
• Fluent in both written and spoken English
• Previous experience with lathes, mills, press breaks, plasma machines, small hand tools.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities are a plus
• Learn and apply the latest relevant knowledge to machining
• Perform Math skills in standard and metric measurements
• Able to accurately read/use a tape measure, calipers and micrometers
• Basic computer skills
• Passion for doing a job well

• Able to work effectively in South Alabama climate conditions
• Able to stand for long periods of time, crawl, squat, and climb without tiring easily
