Ellwood Crankshaft Group (ECG) Job Opportunity: CNC Machinist I

Ellwood Crankshaft Group (ECG) is the world's leading manufacturer of large, one-of-a-kind, multiple-throw crankshafts. Our products and services include crankshafts and eccentrics used in various mechanical applications. ECG operates four facilities throughout PA and is seeking a full-time CNC Machinist I in Sharon, PA. This non-exempt role involves operating large CNC-controlled lathes, mills, and crankshaft milling machines. Responsibilities may evolve based on business needs, including rotating shifts, 12-hour schedules, and overtime.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Three or more years of machining experience preferred but not required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with computer applications
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Results-oriented with a strong desire to succeed
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in operating forklifts, overhead cranes, and heavy equipment
  • Experience in a heavy manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work various schedules and overtime as needed
Responsibilities
  • Perform tasks related to manufacturing components and assemblies based on drawings, sketches, or instructions, supporting the manufacturing process, which may change over time.
  • Operate CNC milling equipment to meet specified tolerances, including knowledge of digital readouts.
  • Set up, layout, and execute work according to specifications, blueprints, and instructions.
  • Select speeds, feeds, and cutting tools based on materials and finish requirements.
  • Use conventional and precision measuring instruments for inspections.
  • Perform in-process inspections, certifications, and documentation.
  • Understand and apply metalworking principles, including tool and material selection.
  • Follow safety rules and maintain high quality standards.
  • Maintain records and perform routine preventative maintenance on machines.
  • Keep work areas clean and perform other routine tasks as needed.

Physical Demands

This role requires handling materials up to 120 pounds occasionally and frequent handling of up to 70 pounds. It involves frequent bending, squatting, standing, walking, and reaching. Visual acuity includes close vision and color perception, necessary for inspecting parts and operating equipment. The work environment is manufacturing with exposure to noise, temperature changes, and machinery.
