Job description

Ellwood Crankshaft and Machine is the world's leading manufacturer of large, one-of-a-kind, multiple-throw crankshafts. ECM's products and services include crankshafts and eccentrics used in mechanical stamping presses, reciprocating air and gas compressors, reciprocating pumps, engines, mechanical shears, rock crushers, homogenizers, and other applications. ECM serves the locomotive, shipping, mechanical press, oil and gas, and compression markets.

ECM is currently hiring for the Machinist I (PIN Chaser) position. Duties and responsibilities are dynamic and may change over time to suit business needs. The Machinist I position is a non-exempt, full-time role that typically works a 4-on 4-off schedule with 12-hour shifts. The Machinist may work day, night, or rotating shifts as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Ability to read and interpret sketches and blueprints.
• Skill in laying out parts.
• Understanding of tools and fixturing.
• Strong math skills.
• Ability to work well independently and in a team.
• Detail-oriented with good organizational and prioritization skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Manual grinding experience or equivalent education.
• Prior CNC experience is a plus.

Responsibilities:

• Review drawings, programs, and sketches.
• Construct and load CNC programs; complete all required documentation.
• Edit/modify programs to meet specifications.
• Ensure Marposs gauging and MIDA probing are correctly engaged and calibrated.
• Measure, inspect, and adjust to achieve correct dimensions.
• Load and unload machines with overhead crane assistance.
• Select tooling, set indexing, determine baseline.
• Change grinding wheels and replace tooling as needed.
• Check identification on materials.
• Layout products as required.
• Deburr parts and move to next workstation.
• Lubricate machines, check filtration and coolant levels, perform minor maintenance.
• Maintain a clean, safe working area.
• Report defective materials or equipment to supervisors.
• Follow all safety regulations.
• Perform other duties as necessary.

Education:

High School diploma preferred. Technical training or certification in machining/machinist is also preferred.
