Job summary

Vantedge Medical is seeking a CNC Machinist I to join our onsite manufacturing team in Rancho Cordova, CA. This full-time position focuses on producing high-quality machined parts using 3-axis CNC vertical mills and 2-axis lathes, with a swing shift schedule.

The role requires a high school diploma, at least two years machining experience including CNC exposure, and knowledge of feeds and speeds, tooling, and GD&T.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years minimum machining experience, at least one of which must be on CNC equipment.
  • Basic machining knowledge, including feeds and speeds, materials, tooling types and uses.
  • "Everyday" familiarity with at least one of the following CNC controls: Fanuc, Mazak, Haas.
  • Familiarity with surface finishes and callouts.
  • Use of basic machining inspection tools including calipers, micrometer, height gage, pin gages, thread gages.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Geometric dimensioning and tolerances.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic computation, including basic trigonometry.
  • Moderate ability to communicate verbally in English, to understand technical directions on blueprints, travelers, and computer screens in English, , and to create understandable written job status reports for shift changes
  • Some assigned tasks for this position may involve "Light work" and some may involve "Medium Work" as defined below. The hiring authority may review the applicant’s physical ability based on the specific tasks to be assigned: Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and Runs 3 axis CNC vertical mills and/or 2 axis lathes.
  • Downloads programs and makes tool-offset entries on machine.
  • Adjusts feeds and speeds and makes other minor on-machine program changes as needed, and conveys changes back to programming.
  • Observes tool functioning and wear and replaces tools mid-job if needed.
  • Performs 2nd operation steps (hardware installation etc) when requested.
  • Performs dimensional and visual inspection of parts.
  • Logs on and off jobs accurately in Visual ERP.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment as required (way lube, coolant).

About This Opportunity

This position is the lowest post-trainee level CNC machining position at Vander-Bend & the primary duty of this role is to produce high quality machined parts in a cost-efficient manner.
