Job summary

Ulysses is hiring a CNC Machinist in San Francisco to build real parts for autonomous ocean robots. You will CAM parts in Fusion 360, run Haas machines, measure parts, and iterate to dial in repeatable processes.

The role emphasizes owning the full loop, from toolpaths to inspection, and collaborating with engineers on production-ready designs. Strong candidates have 2–3 years CNC experience or a proven apprenticeship path, and can work autonomously in a startup shop while developing fixtures

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of hands-on CNC experience in a machine shop or a strong training path such as an apprenticeship.
• Proficient in CAM toolpath creation and tool selection with Fusion 360 CAM.
• Experience running Haas machines and interpreting prints with GD&T.
• Strong metrology fundamentals and ability to inspect to print.
• Ability to design and build fixtures for one-offs and production.
• Comfortable working autonomously in a startup shop environment.

Responsibilities

• CAM the job in Fusion 360 by building toolpaths and selecting tooling.
• Set up and run 3-axis, 5-axis milling and turning on Haas machines.
• Measure parts with calipers, micrometers, CMM; own first article inspection.
• Close the loop by adjusting offsets and toolpaths from measured results.
• Design and build workholding and fixturing for repeatable production.
• Collaborate with engineers to provide DFM feedback for production readiness.
• Maintain shop health: tooling, materials, coolant, organization, and safety.
