Job summary

finalREV is seeking a hands-on CNC machinist to join our Berkeley shop. This is a full-time, in-person hourly position aimed at expanding automation through AI and auto-CAM tools.

You will create repeatable speed/feed databases, reduce wasted clicks, and work from digital files to the machined part. If you’re curious, proactive, and enjoy building lightweight software solutions to automate workflows, apply.

Qualifications

• Interest in CNC manufacturing and automation.
• Comfortable working hands-on in a shop environment.
• Ability to use AI tools to improve processes (ChatGPT/Claude).

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement automated CNC workflows to reduce manual steps.
• Leverage AI/auto-CAM tools to streamline machining from file to part.
• Build and maintain repeatable speed/feed databases for common tools.
• Hands-on shop work with a focus on quality and efficiency.

Job description

This is not your typical CNC machinist role.

We want you to create and use new ways of CNC machining using AI, auto-CAM tools, and other methods by eliminating wasted clicks and repeating what can be automated (container method on Fusion 360, for example). We value more that you have a repeatable speed/feed database for tools you use often than knowing how to quickly calculate it on the fly or knowing it by heart; we care deeply that you think about the entire system and work towards automating every step between the digital file and the machined part.

What we’re looking for

• Strong organizational instincts and attention to detail
• Interest in manufacturing, operations, robots, or industrial systems
• Comfortable being highly hands-on in a shop environment
• High agency and initiative
• Basic software fluency; able to use tools like ChatGPT and Claude to build lightweight software solutions when useful
