Job summary

Bowhead is seeking a Machinist to support the NSWCDD Machine Shop in Virginia. You will program and operate CNC lathes and mills, set up tools, and create fixtures to produce parts from aluminum, steel, plastics, or titanium according to DoD drawings.

Hands-on training on SolidWorks and CAMWorks is available; work with modern Haas/Fadal/ProtoTrak machines; must have high school diploma and at least one year of CNC experience; excellent opportunity to grow with a patriotic team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Minimum 1 year experience operating CNC milling machines and lathes.
• Ability to draw and program using CAD/CAM software.
• Proficient at reading and interpreting machinist drawings.
• Able to lift up to 75 pounds and stand/walk for long periods.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Proficient with dial calipers and micrometers.

Responsibilities

• Program and operate CNC lathes and mills according to DoD drawings.
• Set up tools and create fixtures for unique parts.
• Inspect in-process and finished parts with dial calipers and micrometers.
• Maintain tight tolerances on machined components.
• Work with aluminum, exotic steels, plastics and titanium.
