Job summary

MD&A, a world class supplier of repairs, services, and parts for the Power Generation Industry, is seeking a CNC Machinist for 2nd shift in its Bearings, Seals, & HYDRAULICS Division. The role requires operating CNC machines, reading blueprints, and maintaining quality standards in a fast-paced outage environment.

Training is provided; shifts include 1st & 2nd with overtime potential. Applicants should have 2-5 years in manufacturing, familiarity with precision measurement tools, and a strong

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 2-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and use quality control tools such as vernier calipers, micrometers, indicators, and tape measures.
  • Understanding of lean and 6S safety in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC machine tools to produce precision parts.
  • Align fixtures and tools, select correct tools and materials for machining.
  • Modify cutting programs to address issues and save changes.
  • Measure parts and verify conformance to specifications.

Description

BEARINGS, SEALS, & HYRADULICS DIVISION

This division is a repairs services shop. Multiple jobs, full schedule for outage season, 50+ hours. 2nd shift has a 20% shift difference for hours worked.

The CNC Machinist for 2nd Shift, applies knowledge of mechanics, shop math, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures to set-up and operate a variety of computer numerical control machine tools to produce precision parts.

Positions are available on 1st & 2nd shift; all training will be conducted on 1st shift for at least 90 days.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of math and instruments such as micrometers, verniers, and gauges.
  • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
  • Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machine work.
  • Modify cutting programs to account for problems encountered during operation and save modified programs.
  • Enter commands to store or retrieve part programs, graphic displays, or programs that transfer data to other media.
  • Measure, examine, and test completed units for defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Read work orders and/or production schedules to determine specifications, such as material to be used, location of cutting lines, and dimension and tolerances.
  • Start and run machines, monitor their operations, and record operational data.
  • Adjust machine speeds and actions, according to product specifications.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, working environment.
  • Support other areas of the shop as needed.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 2-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to organize work assignments to ensure efficient operations within the area.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner to achieve intended objective.
  • Ability to read and use related quality control tools such as vernier calipers, micrometers, indicators, and tape measures.
  • Good organizational skills
  • Understanding of lean and 6S safety in a manufacturing environment
  • Good computer skills
