Job summary

Mechanical Dynamics and Analysis, LLC. (MD&A) | MD&A is seeking a CNC Machinist for 2nd shift to set up and operate CNC machines, ensuring precision parts per specifications. Training is provided on 1st shift for at least 90 days; both 1st and 2nd shifts are available with over 50 hours during outage season.

You will read work orders, adjust speeds, inspect parts, and maintain a clean, safe environment while supporting other shop areas as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–5 years of manufacturing experience.
• Ability to organize work assignments for efficient operations.
• Clear and concise communication to achieve objectives.
• Ability to read/use related quality control tools such as vernier calipers, micrometers, indicators, and tape measures.
• Good organizational skills.
• Understanding of lean and 6S safety in a manufacturing environment.
• Good computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using math and precise measuring instruments.
• Align and secure fixtures, tools, and materials on machines.
• Select appropriate tools, machines, and materials for work preparation.
• Modify cutting programs to address issues and save changes.
• Enter commands to store or retrieve part programs and data.
• Measure, inspect, and test completed units for defects.
• Read work orders and production schedules to determine specifications.
• Start and run machines, monitor operations, and record data.
• Adjust machine speeds and actions per product specs.
• Maintain a clean, safe working environment.
• Support other shop areas as needed.
• Collaborate with team to ensure on-time outage work as scheduled.

This division is a repairs services shop. Multiple jobs, full schedule for outage season, 50+ hours. 2nd shift has a 20% shift difference for hours worked.

The CNC Machinist for 2nd Shift, applies knowledge of mechanics, shop math, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures to set-up and operate a variety of computer numerical control machine tools to produce precision parts.

Positions are available on 1st & 2nd shift; all training will be conducted on 1st shift for at least 90 days.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of math and instruments such as micrometers, verniers, and gauges.
• Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
• Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machine work.
• Modify cutting programs to account for problems encountered during operation and save modified programs.
• Enter commands to store or retrieve part programs, graphic displays, or programs that transfer data to other media.
• Measure, examine, and test completed units for defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
• Read work orders and/or production schedules to determine specifications, such as material to be used, location of cutting lines, and dimension and tolerances.
• Start and run machines, monitor their operations, and record operational data.
• Adjust machine speeds and actions, according to product specifications.
• Maintain a clean, safe, working environment.
• Support other areas of the shop as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• 2-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to organize work assignments to ensure efficient operations within the area.
• Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner to achieve intended objective.
• Ability to read and use related quality control tools such as vernier calipers, micrometers, indicators, and tape measures.
• Good organizational skills
