Responsibilities include:
- Operate CNC boring mills and similar machinery with minimal supervision, producing high-quality parts.
- Perform full machine setup, operation, and inspection, ensuring adherence to tight tolerances and efficient production.
- Interpret technical documents, including blueprints, manuals, and specifications to determine machining requirements.
- Mark materials with reference points and dimensions for accurate machining.
- Identify and correct machine malfunctions or deviations, making adjustments as needed; report major issues to supervisor.
- Support resolution of complex operational issues and participate in cost-reduction initiatives.
- Use forklifts and lifting devices to move parts safely.
- Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and other personnel to address production and quality concerns.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment and work area; perform routine preventative maintenance.
- Enforce and follow all company health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications include:
- 3–5 years of experience operating CNC horizontal boring mills (HBMs) in a heavy manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with Fanuc controls.
- Ability to perform complete machine setups independently.
- Advanced ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications, including GD&T.
- Solid math skills, including geometry and algebra, for fabrication calculations.
Technical competencies:
- Skilled in the use of precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers (ID/OD), depth gauges, indicators, and scales.
- Familiar with various tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, and machine inserts.
