Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, or other computer-controlled machines to perform a variety of tasks including drilling, cutting, and shaping metal parts.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine machining operations.
  • Load programs into machines using G-code or conversational programming software, and make necessary adjustments for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Select, install, and align tooling and workholding devices to ensure proper machining.
  • Monitor machine operation during production runs to detect and resolve malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions.
  • Inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines and keep work area clean and organized.
  • Accurately complete production and inspection documentation as required.
  • Follow all safety protocols and maintain compliance with company quality standards and procedures.

Description

The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machinery to produce precision components according to engineering specifications. This position plays a key role in the manufacturing process by interpreting blueprints, programming or loading G-code, selecting appropriate tools, and performing quality checks using precision measuring instruments. The CNC Machinist ensures production runs are completed safely, accurately, and efficiently, contributing to the overall success of the shop floor operations.

Qualifications And Prior Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in machining or CNC operation preferred.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints and using precision measuring instruments.
  • Familiar with G-code and CNC programming basics; experience with FANUC, Haas, or Siemens controls a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to enter data accurately.
Preferences
  • At least 2-3 years’ CNC Machinist experience, preferred
  • Familiar with HAAS VF7, HAAS VF10, HAAS VF9, Okuma, Mazak VTC, Mazak FJV
  • Familiarity with programming and interpreting CNC software
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Values precision and enforces quality standards
  • Ability to understand G and M -code
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for extended periods of time.
  • Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle tools, operate machines, and feel parts.
  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms, bend, kneel, and stoop as needed to access machinery and materials.
  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds without assistance; occasionally lift heavier items with mechanical or team assistance.
  • Visual acuity required for reading blueprints, performing precision measurements, and monitoring machine displays.
  • Tolerance for working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving mechanical parts, coolant, and temperature variations.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, steel-toed boots, gloves, and hearing protection.
