Job summary

Openwork is partnering with a Charlotte-based company seeking a Machinist in Charlotte, NC. The position is a 1st shift, Monday–Thursday, 5:00 AM–3:30 PM, long-term with potential benefits on hire.

The Machinist will set up and operate multiple machines to meet customer specs and quality standards. Responsibilities include operating various machines (engine lathes, milling machines, CNC lathe, keyway machine), monitoring performance, and ensuring safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read tolerances and use basic math.
• Able to operate safely and work in a team or independently.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Knowledge of sheet metal thicknesses and material types.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
• Flexible schedule: 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday–Thursday; OT as needed.
• Must be able to operate manual mill and lathe; use calipers and micrometer.

Responsibilities

• Operate and process parts per print and traveler requirements.
• Monitor machine performance and utilization.
• Set up and safely operate engine lathes, milling machines, CNC lathe, keyway machine.
• Safely operate overhead crane, forklift, grinders, drills.
• Diagnose machining problems and implement modifications.
• Check part quality and report dimensional issues.
• Perform operator maintenance and housekeeping per schedule.
• Adhere to JMS safety procedures.
