Base pay range

$34.00/hr - $38.00/hr

About the Role: A machinist at Kistler Instrument Corp produces parts of highest accuracy and quality on both manual and automated (CNC) equipment. This position also performs routine maintenance on the equipment and its surrounding area. They work under guidance of the machine shop supervisor and closely collaborates with other machinists, quality assurance, planning and engineering departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Independently setup and operate machining equipment (CNC lathes, CNC Mills, Swiss lathes, etc.) to create components of various complexity
  • Monitor production on multiple CNC machines that are concurrently machining components
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings according to ASME/ANSI standards
  • Create, Read, Write, and Edit CNC machine programs (M & G code and CAD/CAM software)
  • Calculate and set machine controls (speed, feed, depth of cut, etc.)
  • Manually deburr/finish and visually inspect machined parts under a microscope
  • Measure machined components according to engineering specifications
  • Perform duties according to schedule / production routing times
  • Perform routine maintenance on machining equipment
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Fabricate and design complex parts and fixtures from sketches
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications: High School diploma, GED, or equivalent is required

Required Skills:

  • Minimum five years hands-on experience as a CNC machinist
  • Comprehensive knowledge and skill with various machining and/or metal-working equipment
  • Experience using precision measurement equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators
  • Ability to see through and work at a binocular microscope for extended periods
  • Must possess strong analytical skills to perform troubleshooting and failure investigations
  • Requires general computer knowledge and experience using Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Must be able to organize daily work activities according to supervisor instruction
  • Must be punctual, pro-active, reliable, trustworthy, and have a winning mentality
