Job summary

Hanwha Aerospace USA in Cheshire, CT is seeking a CNC Machinist 1 to join our first-shift team (Mon-Fri, 7:00am-3:30pm). Plan and perform CNC milling operations to manufacture metal parts under supervision, working from blueprints and instructions.

You will set up machines, align fixtures, and perform in-process inspection with precision tools. You will read and interpret drawings, operate lathes and mills, maintain records, and ensure parts meet tight tolerances.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ years CNC machining experience.
• Must be a U.S. Person and able to work with ITAR data.

Responsibilities

• Machine parts to specifications using lathes and milling machines.
• Read from blueprints, engineering instructions, and specifications.
• Set up and operate basic and some specialized machine tools for precision machining.
• Align and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials.
• Inspect parts for defects using precision instruments like micrometers.

Job Title: CNC Machinist 1

Exempt Status: Non-Exempt

Summary

Plan and perform various CNC milling operations to machine a variety of metal parts under the direction of the supervisor.

Essential Functions

• Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes and milling machines
• Work from blueprints, engineering instructions, and specifications
• Setup, adjust and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized tools in order to perform precision machining operations
• Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines
• Check parts to ensure that they are properly lubricated and cooled
• Measure, examine, and test completed units for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers
• Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment in order to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter
• Maintain records and document in-process inspection data

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Must be a “U.S. Person” as defined by the U.S. Government and able to work without restrictions with ITAR related data
• High School Degree or G.E.D
• 1+ years of CNC machining experience

Desired Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Precision Manufacturing Certificate preferred
• Must be able to read, write, understand, and speak English at a functional level
• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of the organization
• Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and standard business practices
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering work instructions
• Ability to set up and operate CNC turning and milling machines
• Ability to measure using standard shop tools, machine tools, and engineered gaging to close established tolerances
• Knowledge of G & M codes
• Ability to travel domestically – 10% max
