Job summary

Hanwha Aerospace USA is seeking a CNC Machinist 1 in Connecticut. You will plan and perform CNC turning and milling operations, reading blueprints and following engineering instructions to produce precision metal parts.

You will set up machines, align fixtures, monitor lubrication and cooling, and inspect finished parts with micrometers to ensure conformance to specifications. This role requires a high school diploma, 1+ year experience, and a US Person with ITAR eligibility.

Qualifications

  • Must be a US Person and able to work with ITAR data.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ years of experience in CNC machining.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and perform CNC turning and milling operations to machine metal parts.
  • Work from blueprints and specifications.
  • Set up and operate CNC machines and fixtures.
  • Align tools and fixtures, and ensure proper lubrication and cooling.
  • Inspect parts with precision instruments and document results.

Job Title: CNC Machinist 1
Exempt Status: Non-Exempt
Location: XXX, CT
Summary

Plan and perform various CNC turning and milling operations to machine a variety of metal parts under the supervision of the Operations Manager.

Essential Functions
  • Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes and milling machines
  • Work from blueprints, engineering instructions, and specifications
  • Setup, adjust and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized tools in order to perform precision machining operations
  • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines
  • Check parts to ensure that they are properly lubricated and cooled
  • Measure, examine, and test completed units to defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers
  • Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment in order to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter
  • Maintain records and document in-process inspection data
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Must be a “U.S. Person” as defined by the U.S. Government and able to work without restrictions with ITAR related data
  • High School Degree or G.E.D
  • 1+ years of experience

  • Precision Manufacturing Certificate preferred
  • Must be able to read, write, understand, and speak English at a functional level
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and standard business practices
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering work instructions
  • Ability to setup and operate CNC turning and milling machines
  • Ability to measure using standard shop tools, machine tools, and engineered gaging to close established tolerances
  • Knowledge of G & M codes
  • Ability to travel domestically – 10% max
