Job summary

Qualifications

CNC Machinist

Full Time Poway, CA, US

Salary Range: $26.00 To $34.00 Hourly

Light Composites, Inc. is an AS9100-certified manufacturer of advanced composite structures for aerospace, defense, and medical customers, located in Poway, CA. Our machine shop is core to what we do: CNC-machined aluminum tooling for composite molding, plus trim and finish machining of carbon fiber parts.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

• Setup and operation of 3-axis CNC vertical machining centers (Haas)
• Machining aluminum mold tooling and fixtures to tight tolerances
• Trim and finish machining of carbon fiber composite parts
• Reading engineering drawings and GD&T; in-process inspection with standard metrology tools
• Daily machine upkeep and a clean, organized work area
• Flagging tooling and program issues early - before they become scrap

WHAT YOU BRING

• 2+ years of CNC setup and operation experience (vertical machining centers preferred)
• Ability to set up a machine independently: workholding, work offsets, tool offsets
• Comfortable reading prints and holding tolerances
• Composites machining experience a plus - we will train the right machinist
• A bias for the floor: we hire problem solvers, not spectators

REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or GED
• Reliable transportation to and from work
• Legally authorized to work in the United States; must be a U.S. Person under ITAR (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident)
• Punctual, dependable attendance; occasional overtime as production requires
• Commitment to safety practices and required PPE
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods, with or without reasonable accommodation
• Successful completion of background check and drug screen

COMPENSATION

$26.00 - $34.00 per hour, depending on experience. Full-time, on-site in Poway, CA.
