Job summary

Monroechamber is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to set up and operate multi-axis lathes for production runs. You will read blueprints and CAD models, load CNC programs, and produce parts to tight tolerances using precision gauges.

This role requires 5+ years of CNC lathe set-up experience, proficiency with G-code/M-code, and strong math skills. You will perform first-piece inspections and tool changes, while maintaining a clean, safe work area.

Qualifications

  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Proficient in CNC programming languages (G-code, M-code).
  • Experience with first-piece inspections and gauging.
  • Knowledge of steel manufacturing processes and lathe operations.
  • Strong mathematical skills including geometry and trig.

Responsibilities

  • Set up CNC lathes and run production from drawings or programs.
  • Perform first-piece and ongoing inspections with micrometers/calipers.
  • Install and replace cutting tools; monitor wear.
  • Maintain daily housekeeping and safety procedures.
  • Assist with quality plans and improve machining methods.

Position Title: CNC MachinistWage: $32.00/hourCNC Machinist Responsibilities:Read and complete set-up sheets; configure CNC lathes (vertical, horizontal, multi-axis, Swiss-style) for production runsRun CNC lathes (e.g., Okuma, Mazak, Mori Seiki, HAAS) to produce parts from drawings, CAD models, or pre-written CNC programsPerform first-piece inspections and ongoing checks to ensure conformance to specifications; use micrometers, calipers, and other gaugesInstall, adjust, and replace cutting tools; recognize tool wear and replace as neededPerform daily preventative maintenance and housekeeping dutiesAssist with quality control plans, suggest machining methods to improve efficiency, and provide guidance to less experienced operatorsFollow OSHA, ISO, and company safety proceduresRequirements for CNC Machinist:Associate degree in Manufacturing Technology or related field preferred5+ years in CNC lathe set-up; experience with Skills:Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and CNC programs (G-code, M-code)Proficiency in precision measuring tools and fixturesKnowledge of steel manufacturing processes and CNC lathe operationStrong math skills (fractions, decimals, geometry, trigonometry)IND159
