CNC Machinist – Level 2/3

Position Summary We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to set up and operate CNC equipment used to manufacture precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications. This position requires hands‑on CNC machining experience, strong blueprint‑reading skills, and the ability to perform machine setups, tooling adjustments, program edits, and in‑process inspections. Candidates may be considered at different skill levels based on their experience with CNC setup, programming, troubleshooting, and process development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate CNC Mills and/or CNC Lathes to manufacture precision components.
  • Read and interpret engineering blueprints, drawings, dimensions, and tolerances.
  • Use shop math, including geometry and trigonometry, to determine machining requirements and measurements.
  • Perform complete or partial machine setups, including tooling, fixtures, work offsets, and tool offsets.
  • Load, run, edit, and adjust CNC programs as necessary to maintain part quality.
  • Develop and prove out CNC machining programs for new or complex components based on experience level.
  • Make machine adjustments and offset changes to maintain dimensional accuracy and production efficiency.
  • Select, modify, or assist in developing tooling and fixturing for machining operations.
  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, dimensional, and equipment issues.
  • Inspect work‑in‑process and completed parts using appropriate precision measuring instruments.
  • Identify and correct quality issues before continuing production.
  • Assist with developing and improving machining processes to increase quality, efficiency, and consistency.
  • Document machining procedures, setups, and processes as required.
  • Maintain proper machine lubrication and fluid levels.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, including removal of scrap and excess material from equipment.
  • Report equipment, tooling, or quality concerns to the appropriate team member.
  • Follow all company safety, quality, and production procedures.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience operating and setting up CNC Mills and/or CNC Lathes in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to perform CNC machine setups, including tooling and offset adjustments.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Working knowledge of machining tolerances, geometry, and shop mathematics.
  • Experience making CNC program edits and adjustments at the machine.
  • Ability to inspect your own work using precision measuring equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining quality and production standards.
  • Experience proving out new programs, developing machining processes, or designing/modifying tooling and fixtures is highly preferred for more senior‑level candidates.
