W3Global is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team in Grand Rapids, MN. You will operate, set up, and maintain CNC lathes and milling centers to produce precise components with tight tolerances.

Responsibilities include interpreting blueprints, programming with G-code/M-code, and performing quality checks with CMMs and precision tools while supporting lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.

Overview

Join our dynamic manufacturing team as a CNC Machinist and become a vital contributor to precision metalworking and high-quality component production. In this role, you will operate, set up, and maintain CNC machines-including lathes and milling centers-using advanced programming techniques to produce complex parts with exceptional accuracy. Your expertise in machining tools, blueprint interpretation, and measurement instruments will drive efficiency and quality in our manufacturing processes. Duties
  • Set up CNC machines such as CNC lathes and milling machines, ensuring proper tooling, fixtures, and calibration for each job
  • Program CNC equipment using G-code, M-code, and CAM software to produce precise components based on detailed blueprints and mechanical drawings
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and mechanical blueprints accurately to determine machining requirements
  • Operate manual machining tools including grinders, calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and hand tools for finishing or troubleshooting parts
  • Conduct precision measurements using measurement instruments like coordinate measuring machines (CMM), dial indicators, and precision measuring instruments to verify part dimensions
  • Perform quality inspections during and after machining processes to ensure adherence to specifications and GD&T standards
  • Maintain machine setup documentation, perform routine maintenance, and troubleshoot CNC equipment issues promptly to minimize downtime
  • Support lean manufacturing initiatives by optimizing machining processes for efficiency and waste reduction
  • Assist with assembly tasks or welding as needed to complete finished products or prototypes
Experience
  • Proven experience operating CNC machinery such as CNC milling machines and CNC lathes in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages including G-code, M-code, Fanuc controls, and CAM software like SolidWorks or CAD systems for toolpath creation
  • Familiarity with machining tools such as grinders, power tools, hand tools, and tooling management practices
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, mechanical drawings, GD&T specifications, and technical documentation accurately
  • Mechanical aptitude with understanding of metal properties, machining principles, and machine setup procedures
  • Experience with precision measurement instruments including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, CMMs for quality control purposes
  • Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, feeds & speeds necessary for machining operations
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles aimed at continuous process improvement in a high-volume setting
