About Us

VDL Industries Gainesville LLC is the 99th company in the VDL Groep and the first manufacturing facility established in the United States. Operating from a state-of-the-art, 150,000 sq. ft. facility in Flowery Branch, Georgia, we specialize in laser cutting, metal forming, welding (MIG/TIG), electronic and general assembly, sawing, drilling, shipping, and quality control. Our facility includes a dedicated area for stainless steel welding and assembly operations.

Job Summary

As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for programming, setting up, operating, and monitoring CNC mills and lathes to produce high-precision parts. You will ensure machines are functioning correctly, parts are manufactured to specification, and that all safety and quality standards are maintained.

Responsibilities:

  • Review work orders, blueprints, job routers, and technical documentation to plan machining operations.
  • Interpret and modify G-code to optimize machine performance and part accuracy.
  • Set up CNC machines (mills and lathes) with correct tooling, holders, and fixturing.
  • Load raw materials and apply correct offsets and probing cycles.
  • Verify machine settings and quality by inspecting first-run and sample parts.
  • Use precision measuring tools to ensure dimensional accuracy throughout production runs.
  • Continuously optimize cycle times while maintaining part quality.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on machines and equipment.
  • Maintain shift continuity by documenting work performed and communicating with team members.
  • Complete all required production and quality logs accurately and on time

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Proficient in operating CNC mills and lathes.
  • Ability to read and interpret part drawings, including GD&T.
  • Skilled in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Competent in editing CNC code as necessary.
  • Strong computer and technical aptitude.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communicator and team player.
  • Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Vocational/Technical training in Precision Machining or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with CNC mills (3-axis, 5-axis) and lathes (standard and mill/turn).
  • Experience with DMG Mori, Siemens, and Fanuc controls highly preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods
  • Must have agility to bend, push, pull, and handle materials as needed
