Job description

Position Title: CNC Machinist
Department: Machine Shop
Location: Fenton, MO
Reports To: Production Supervisor – Machine Shop
Classification: Hourly – Non-Exempt

Available Shifts:
  • 2nd Shift:
    • Monday – Thursday: 3:15 PM – 1:15 AM
    • Monday – Friday: 3:15 PM – 12:15 AM
    • Monday – Thursday: 3:15 PM – 11:15 PM, Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Weekend Shift:
    • Friday – Sunday: 5:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Position Summary

The CNC Machinist/Operator is responsible for machining components using a variety of CNC lathes and mills while adhering to documented procedures, including safety protocols. This role ensures the quality of parts produced and assists in training setup operators and operator trainees. Duties include diagnosing, troubleshooting, and making necessary adjustments and repairs. The machinist is expected to have the fundamental tools to perform the job safely and efficiently. PPE such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection are mandatory at all times.

Essential Job Duties
  • Set up, operate, and adjust a variety of CNC machines.
  • Use precision measuring devices to ensure accuracy.
  • Work independently from drawings with minimal instruction and supervision.
  • Understand G and M Codes for CNC machinery.
  • Set and sharpen tools as needed.
  • Troubleshoot machines, set speeds and feeds appropriate for various materials, and perform minor repairs.
  • Maintain responsibility for the quality of parts produced.
Required Experience/Skills
  • Strong math skills and the ability to read blueprints, work instructions, SOPs, and other technical documents in English.
  • Physical ability to lift 35 lbs. regularly.
  • Proficiency in monitoring gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure the machine functions correctly.
  • Keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Self-directed with a proactive approach to learning new maintenance skills.
Desired Experience/Skills
  • 2-3 years of experience in CNC machining.
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude with a strong problem-solving mindset.
  • Familiarity with HAAS, Okuma, and/or MAZAK CNC machine centers.
  • Experience with CNC lathes, Davenport, or ACME is a plus.
Work Environment
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, oils, and chemicals in a loud manufacturing setting.
  • Standing on concrete throughout the shift.
