Requirements
  • Experience: Typically requires 2–5 years of experience setting up and operating CNC equipment, preferably in a fabrication, job shop, or manufacturing environment.
  • Technical Skills: Strong ability to read mechanical documents, understand geometric dimensioning, and use CAM/CAD software.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and frequently lift or maneuver heavy materials (50+ lbs).
  • Math & Problem Solving: Solid mathematical skills to calculate dimensions, plus critical thinking to adjust feed rates and prevent machine errors.
Job Duties
  • Machine Setup & Operation: Calibrate and operate CNC routers, mills, and lathes (such as 3-axis routers for vinyl or plasma cutters for metal) according to production orders.
  • Programming & Blueprint Reading: Interpret blueprints, sketches, and CAD/CAM files to program machine cuts, tool paths, speeds, and feeds.
  • Material Optimization: Plan layouts and nest parts to minimize material waste and maximize cost-effectiveness.
  • Quality Control: Inspect finished fence parts using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, tape measures) to ensure they meet strict tolerance and design standards.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment and troubleshoot issues like tool wear or programming/material inconsistencies.
  • Inventory & Staging: Monitor raw material stock (tubing, pickets, posts) and stage completed, labeled components so they are easily accessible for the installation and assembly teams

What You Will Do

As a CNC Machinist you will set up, operate, monitor, and adjust CNC machining equipment to manufacture precision components according to engineering specifications. You will verify machine setups, inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments, troubleshoot machining issues, maintain tooling, and support quality and production goals while following established safety and manufacturing procedures.
