Job summary

Kaleidoscope Innovation, an Infosys company, is expanding our Prototyping Shop. The CNC Prototype Machinist Programmer will create parts and tools with precision equipment, write instructions for manufacturing, and inspect results to ensure specs are met.

This is a first-shift role requiring prior programming and manual machining experience. Responsibilities include programming tool paths, setting up CNC machines, performing maintenance, and reviewing blueprints.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Mechanical drafting experience using AutoCAD/SolidWorks.
  • 5-10 years related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, adjust and operate CNC equipment (3rd-5th axis) to manufacture tools and parts.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on precision equipment.
  • Program tool paths for CNC machining and test programs.
  • Inspect finished parts to verify specifications.
  • Document step-by-step processes for programming jobs and update as needed.
  • Develop new designs and modifications based on client requirements.
  • Review schematics and blueprints; communicate issues to Shop Manager.

Job description

Kaleidoscope Innovation, an Infosys company, is expanding our Prototyping Shop. This role is all first shift, looking for someone with prior programming and manual machining experience.

JOB SUMMARY

The CNC (Computer Numerical Controls) Prototype Machinist Programmer is responsible for creating machine parts and tools using precision computer equipment, creating instructions for the parts they are manufacturing and inspecting the finished product to ensure all specifications are met.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
CNC Machine Operation (100%)
  • Set up, adjust and operate the equipment (3 rd , 4 th or 5 th axis interpolation) needed to manufacture tools and machine parts on a daily basis
  • Perform regularly-scheduled maintenance of all precision computer equipment
  • Program tool paths for CNC machining application; test CNC programs to ensure proper functioning
  • Inspect completed part/tool to ensure all specifications are met
  • Create documents outlining step-by-step processes followed to program equipment for specific jobs and update as needed
  • Create and develop new designs, improvements and modifications to existing designs and layouts based on client requirements
  • Review schematics, blueprints and other necessary documentation
  • Notify Shop Manager of any problems or issues that arise during production
Qualifications
Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Mechanical drafting experience using AutoCAD/SolidWorks
  • 5-10 years related experience

Skills/Specialized Knowledge/Abilities
  • Proficient knowledge of 3D CAD Modeling software (visualization, SolidWorks, Unigraphics, etc.)
  • Understanding of the operations of drills, lathes and milling equipment
  • Understanding of safety regulations regarding all CNC equipment
  • Extensive familiarity with machines' parts and internal processes
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
WORKING CONDITIONS
Tools and Equipment Used
  • Computer workstation, typical office equipment, CNC equipment and machines as well as various hand tools (gauges, calipers, micrometers, scales, indicators, etc.)
Travel
  • Minimal up to 10% of the time
Physical & Mental Demands
  • Ability to talk or hear
  • Willing to maintain strict adherence to safety and environmental rules and regulations
  • Willing to wear personal protective safety equipment
  • Exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration
  • Willing to work in a hot, humid, cold and noisy environment around moving equipment and machinery
  • Ability to perform repetitive and physically demanding tasks for extended periods (standing, lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, reaching, grabbing)
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs
  • Willing to work overtime, as needed
