Job summary

Primetals Technologies USA in Benton Harbor, MI is seeking a CNC Machinist III to operate lathes, mills, and related equipment for complex repairs and part fabrication. You will work from drawings and instructions to produce precise metal components with attention to tolerances.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of machining experience, CNC exposure, blueprint reading, and tool setup. Valid driver’s license and crane/forklift certification are preferred; in-house training is provided to obtain

Qualifications

• Five or more years of machining or related experience.
• Experience with large horizontal boring mills, manual and CNC preferred.
• Crane/Forklift certification – in-house training provided.
• Valid Driver’s license and use of precision measuring tools.

Responsibilities

• Operates lathes, drill presses, mills, routers, grinders and related machines.
• Reads drawings and instructions to create parts and repairs.
• Determines dimensions, sequences operations and selects machines.
• Pre-sets tools and inspects finished work to spec.
• Maintains machine area and performs daily maintenance.

We are looking for a CNC Machinist III at our Benton Harbor, MI facility.

Responsibilities

• Operates lathes, drill presses, mills, routers, grinding machines, duplicating, and profile machines .
• Works from drawings and written instructions to create replacement and new parts in making complex repairs to metal parts.
• Work is diversified and machining is performed to ordinary tolerances.
• Requires extensive knowledge of various metals and of measurements used in machining processes.
• Determines dimensions and tolerances of piece to be machined, sequence of operations and machines required by studying specifications, such as blueprints, sketches, damaged parts or descriptions of parts.
• Computes cutting speeds, feed rates and dimensions.
• Prepares and pre-sets all tools needed for machining operations .
• Inspects machined work pieces to verify conformance to specifications .
• Performs housekeeping of machine and work area.
• Daily maintenance check of machine.

Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Five + years of machining or related experience. Prefer experience with large horizontal boring mills, both manual and CNC.
• Crane/Forklift Certification – In-house training provided to obtain certifications
• Valid Driver’s license
• Proper use of Hand tools, power tools, cranes, micrometers and other precision measuring tools
• Proper use of Safety Equipment – Safety boots, hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs
