Job summary

Randstad USA in Belmont, NC seeks a skilled Machinist & Operator for a first-shift, four-day work week. You will set up and run 3-axis CNC centers, operate manual machines, read blueprints, and perform tight-tolerance quality checks in a fast-paced shop environment.

Experienced candidates may lead complex setups, train junior operators, and monitor production KPIs while maintaining a safe, clean workspace.

Responsibilities

• Set up, program, and operate 3-axis CNC machining centers for facing, drilling, tapping, pocketing, slotting, boring, and threading.
• Operate manual equipment including lathes, drill presses, and band saws.
• Calculate and measure diameters, depths, angles, flatness, and thickness to tight tolerances.
• Use calipers, micrometers, and other inspection tools for QC checks.
• Prepare and deliver parts to QC, optimize efficiency and reduce waste.
• Apply 5S daily to maintain a safe, organized workspace.
• Record production quantities and data on control plans.
• Senior candidates: perform complex 3- and 5-axis setups, train juniors, and lead KPIs.

Hours: 1st Shift, 4-Day Work Week (Minimal overtime on rare occasions) Salary: $37,440 – $78,000 per year (Based on a 40-hour work week, commensurate with Level 1, 2, or 3 experience)

Requirements

• Proven experience setting up and programming CNC lathes and operating manual machining equipment.

Day-to-Day Duties

• Set up, program, and operate 3-axis CNC machining centers to perform facing, drilling, tapping, pocketing, slotting, boring, and threading.
• Operate essential manual equipment, including manual lathes, drill presses, and horizontal/vertical band saws.
• Calculate and measure outside/inside diameters, depths, angles, flatness, and thickness to produce quality, tight-tolerance parts.
• Utilize calipers, micrometers, and other precision inspection equipment to conduct quality control checks.
• Prepare and deliver parts to the QC department in a timely manner, optimizing efficiency and minimizing waste.
• Apply 5S methodology daily to maintain a safe, highly organized, and efficient workspace.
• Accurately record production quantities and data on control plans.
• For Senior candidates: Perform complex 3- and 5-axis machine setups without assistance, train junior operators, troubleshoot production KPIs, and step into lead responsibilities when needed.
