Job summary

DRT Metal Packaging is seeking a skilled CNC Milling Machinist to join our Dayton, OH manufacturing team. You will set up and operate CNC milling centers, read blueprints with GD&T, and produce high-precision parts to tight tolerances.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of CNC experience, familiarity with HMCs/VMCs, and strong inspection capabilities. We offer multiple shifts with competitive weekly pay, plus shift differential and day-one benefits.

Qualifications

3+ years of CNC machining experience in precision manufacturing.
Hands-on setup and operation of CNC Milling Machines (HMCs/VMCs).
Ability to read blueprints, GD&T, and technical specifications.
Experience selecting tooling, fixture setup, and precision inspection equipment.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
A team-oriented approach to meet quality and delivery goals.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC Milling Machines, including HMCs and VMCs.
Perform machine setups, tooling changes, work offsets, and first-piece inspections.
Read and interpret blueprints and GD&T data.

2nd Shift | Monday – Friday | 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
3rd Shift | Sunday – Thursday | 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM

What You'll Do

Set up and operate CNC Milling Machines, including Horizontal Machining Centers (HMCs) and Vertical Machining Centers (VMCs)
Perform machine setups, tooling changes, work offset adjustments, and first-piece inspections
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing specifications
Manufacture precision-machined components to tight tolerances
Conduct in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, indicators, and other precision measuring instruments
Make tooling and program adjustments to maintain quality, efficiency, and production targets
Troubleshoot machining and tooling issues and implement corrective actions
Monitor tool life and identify opportunities to improve machining processes and cycle times
Complete production, inspection, and quality documentation accurately
Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to meet customer requirements and delivery schedules
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

Minimum of 3+ years of CNC machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment
Hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC Milling Machines, including HMCs and VMCs
Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical specifications
Experience with tooling selection, fixture setup, and precision inspection equipment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Fanuc, Haas, Mazatrol, Okuma, Makino, Mori Seiki, or similar control systems
Multi-axis machining experience (4-axis and/or 5-axis)
CNC programming and G-code editing experience
Experience with CAM software
Technical machining education, trade school, or apprenticeship training
