Job summary

Torrey Holistics is seeking an experienced CNC setup specialist to build stable, repeatable processes on HMCs and VMCs, mentoring operators and driving continuous improvement on the shop floor.

You will read engineering drawings, adjust G-code and offsets, inspect parts with precision tools, and help maintain high quality and on-time delivery while ensuring safety and traceability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years setting up 3-, 4-, and 5-axis HMC CNC machines; Makino background preferred.
• Experience in CNC operation and G-code programming; read blueprints.
• CAD/CAM familiarity; tooling, fixturing, speeds/feeds knowledge.
• Strong measurement skills with calipers, micrometers, and CMM reports.
• High school diploma or GED; bilingual English/Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

If that sounds like your kind of challenge, read on.Your MissionBuild stable, safe, and repeatable CNC milling processes on HMCs and VMCs, ensuring quality parts and on-time delivery while mentoring operators and driving continuous improvement.How You’ll ExecuteSetup Excellence: Configure HMC/VMC equipment by installing fixtures and attachments, selecting tools and inserts, and loading/validating part programs. Makino experience is a plus. Program & Print Mastery: Read engineering drawings and geometric specifications; understand and adjust G-code where needed. In-Process Quality Control: Inspect with calipers, micrometers, and variable/attribute gauges; review CMM reports and make immediate feed, speed, and offset changes to keep features within tolerance. Reliability & Uptime: Conduct routine maintenance; troubleshoot machine, robot, and process issues; fine-tune robotic load/unload settings to stabilize handoffs. Documentation & Traceability: Record setups, tool changes, offsets, and adjustments; maintain part identification and traceability across the shop floor. Collaboration & Escalation: Work with supervisors and engineers to surface and mitigate risks; escalate concerns quickly and implement corrective actions for process, quality, and safety. Coaching & Improvement: Train operators on setup and operation; identify improvement opportunities and implement better ways of machining. Safety & Standards: Keep a 5S work area, comply with MIOSHA, follow company safety rules (written and verbal), and operate within the Quality Management System (IATF 16949). Adaptability: Take on additional duties as assigned and adjust to changing priorities.What You Need to Succeed5+ years setting up 3-, 4-, and 5-axis HMC CNC machines; Makino setup background preferred.Experience in CNC operation and G-code programming.CAD/CAM familiarity (preferred).Expertise with cutting tools, inserts, speeds/feeds, and cutting speed terminology.Ability to read blueprints and apply precision measurement tools effectively.Proficiency in machine setup, tooling/fixturing, and CNC offset adjustments.Competent with basic math and geometry for dimensional work; general computer knowledge.High attention to detail and accuracy; analytical mindset for investigating non-conformances; relentless pursuit of zero defects.Independent, procedure-driven approach with strong problem-solving and mechanical aptitude.Team-oriented communication style; stays calm under pressure, respects others, takes responsibility, and follows through.High school diploma or GED.Experience with Makino, FANUC, Mori Seiki, and similar CNC controls.Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.Flexible availability; able to navigate unexpected challenges and quickly find solutions.
