Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join the Turbo Machinery value stream. You will program, set up, and operate world-class CNC machines to fabricate high-value spaceflight components, working from NX CAM and Mastercam to produce tight-tolerance parts for BE-7 engines.

You will read blueprints with GD&T, select appropriate tooling, and contribute to Design for Manufacturing feedback in a high-safety, high-precision environment.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years related CNC experience.
  • 3+ years’ experience with multi axis machines.
  • 5+ years' experience with CNC Cam programming.
  • CNC programming skills, preferably NX 10 thru 2306 or MasterCam.
  • Experience with Mazak, Hass, DMG Mori, Mori Seiki, Hermle, G+F and/or Okuma.
  • Working knowledge of Fanuc, Siemens, OSP or other CNC controls.
  • Excellent blue print reading skills including GD& T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard.

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

Job Description We are a team of collaborators, doers, and problem-solvers who are relentlessly committed to a culture of safety. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable space flight. Join us in lowering the cost of access to space and enabling Blue Origin’s vision of millions of people living and working in space to benefit Earth. In this role, you will program, setup, operate and maintain world class, state of the art CNC machines to fabricate components for various spaceflight systems. You will be expected to program unique engine component jobs from scratch in NX Cam, then machine the parts on complex multi-axis machines. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of CNC machining and fabrication. You will be responsible for setting up and operating a variety of CNC machines and equipment to produce accurate components enabling first article success on tight tolerance, high value parts. This team in particular owns the entire Turbo Machinery value stream for Blue Origin's BE-7 engines.

Must be able to work: A Shift - Monday - Thursday 5:00 am - 3:30 pm

Qualifications
  • 7+ years related CNC experience
  • 3+ years’ experience with multi axis machines
  • 5+ years' experience with CNC Cam programming
  • CNC programming skills, preferably NX 10 thru 2306 or MasterCam
  • Experience with one or more of the following CNC machines: Mazak, Hass, DMG Mori, Mori Seiki, Hermle, G+F and/or Okuma
  • Working knowledge of Fanuc, Siemens, OSP or other CNC controls
  • Excellent blue print reading skills including GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard
  • Familiar with use of personal computers
  • Ability to provide Design for Manufacturing feedback
  • Must be physically able to climb ladders, stairs, work in small/restricted areas, and lift and carry 25 lbs.
Desired
  • Tooling and fixture design.
  • Multi-Axis Turning experience.
  • Mill-turn experience.
  • Outside processing knowledge including: heat treat, brazing, EB/laser welding, EDM, grinding, etc.
  • CMM programming/operation experience
  • Conversational programming on the machine
  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
