Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist in Los Angeles, California. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with CNC machining, particularly with 3, 4, and 5 axis mills, and will be responsible for developing hardware in collaboration with engineering. Qualifications

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!**Responsibilities:*** Develop hardware in parallel and in collaboration with Engineering.* Machine product from cradle to grave: evaluate, select work-holding & tooling, program, setup, machine and inspect, while communicating with design teams throughout the entire life cycle.* Programming, set up and machining of 3, 4 and 5 axis mills, multi axis lathes, and development of critical machining processes.* Operation of other equipment as required, both NC controlled and manual.* Working with engineering to document and standardize production processes.* Partner with leadership and engineering to prioritize work based on production schedule and organizational goals.* Ensure product quality and conformance to engineering specifications.* Perform daily maintenance and regular cleaning of machinery and equipment.* Perform all tasks in safe and responsible manner.**Schedule:*** First shift (Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm)**Qualifications:*** 10+ years of experience with 3, 4 and 5 axis CNC machining.* 10+ years of experience with manual mill and lathe.* 7+ years of experience with NX* Full understanding of GD&T and the tools to execute the inspection of.* Thrive in a constantly evolving environment.* Ability to take on challenges with incomplete information and pivot to drive progress.* Work well in a collaborative team environment.* Experience machining one or more of the following materials: nickel-based stainless-steel alloys (Inconel, Monel, etc.), Copper, Aluminum and/or Titanium.* Extensive experience with one or more of the following CNC machines: Mazak, Hass, DMG Mori, Mori Seiki, and/or Okuma.* Working knowledge of Fanuc, Siemens, Mazatrol or other CNC controls.* Excellent blueprint reading skills including GD&T per current ASME Y14.5M standard.* Familiar with use of personal computers.* Ability to provide Design for Manufacturing feedback.**Must be physically able to:*** Lift and carry 50 lbs.**Desired:*** Experience machining vehicle-sized tooling* Experience in integrating metrology in-line with machining* Experience machining nickel-based stainless-steel alloys, copper, titanium.* Tooling and fixture design.* Outside processing knowledge, including heat treat, plating, coating, EDM, grinding, etc.* CMM programming/operation experience.* Conversational programming on the machine.* Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts.**Culture Statement****Export Control Regulations**Applicants for employment at Blue Origin must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.**Background Check*** Required for all positions: Blue’s Standard Background Check* Required for Certain Job Profiles: Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) background check if at any time the role requires one to be on a military installation* Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.* Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical**Benefits*** Benefits include: Medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability, 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%, and an Education Support Program.* Stock Options for all regular employees (working at least 20 hours/week)* Paid Time Off: Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays.* Dependent on role type and job level, employees may be eligible for benefits and bonuses based on the company's intent to reward individual contributions and enable them to share in the company's results, or other factors at the company's sole discretion.
