Job summary

Kelly is seeking a CNC Machine Operator to join a premier manufacturing client in St. Petersburg, FL. This is a temp-to-hire role with a 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

shift and a pay rate of $25–$28 per hour. You will prepare, set up, and operate CNC mills and lathes, translate instructions into G/M code for Fanuc or Mitsubishi controls, load materials, run test cycles, and inspect parts for quality. Proficiency with 5-axis mills or live tooling lathes (min 3 years) and CAD/CAM tools is highly valued.

Qualifications

  • Proven CNC operator experience with 5-axis mills or live tooling lathe (min 3 years).
  • Good to read mechanical drawings and G code (Fanuc/Mitsubishi).
  • Experience with CAD/CAM tools; Mastercam a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, set up, and operate CNC mills and lathes to manufacture precision parts.
  • Translate instructions into G/M code for Fanuc or Mitsubishi controls.
  • Load materials, run test cycles, and adjust settings as needed.
  • Supervise machines during operation and inspect finished parts for quality.
  • Maintain machine and work area; report issues to supervision.
  • Identify defects and document findings.

Temp to Hire

Shift: 7am-3:30 pm, Monday-Friday
Pay Rate: $25–$28/hr

What’s a typical day as CNC Machine Operator? You’ll be:
  • Preparing, setting up, and operating a variety of CNC mills and lathes to manufacture precision parts
  • Translating instructions into computer commands (G/M code) for machines such as Fanuc or Mitsubishi
  • Loading raw materials and parts, running test cycles, and adjusting settings as needed
  • Supervising machines during operation, making offsets, inspecting and measuring finished products for quality
  • Maintaining machinery and keeping the work area organized
  • Identifying product defects, completing documentation, and reporting to supervisors
This job might be an outstanding fit if you:
  • Have proven experience as a CNC operator or setup operator, with specific expertise in 5-axis mills and/or live tooling lathes with sub spindle (minimum 3 years required)
  • Are proficient in reading mechanical drawings and understanding G code programming (Fanuc/Mitsubishi)
  • Are computer savvy; experience with CAD/CAM, Mastercam is a plus
  • Possess strong mechanical aptitude, solid math skills, and a keen eye for detail
  • Communicate effectively and can work independently or as part of a team
  • Hold a high school diploma or equivalent (certificate/diploma in engineering preferred) and have completed an apprenticeship
  • Are a US Citizen (required per defense regulations)
  • Can regularly lift 30-50 pounds and meet the vision and manual dexterity demands of precision manufacturing
