CNC Machine Operators operate computer-controlled machines to perform various functions required to produce customer orders. Skilled Machine Operators are vital to our success, and their reliability and accuracy are essential.
Essential Functions

- Set up and operate automated CNC Vertical and horizontal machines.
- Locate and identify the X, Y, Z axes on Vertical and Horizontal machines accurately.
- Use indicators to check for straightness and flatness of fixturing and tooling.
- Perform daily point checks on assigned machines and report concerns; initiate maintenance requests if needed.
- Meet departmental and company goals promptly (efficiencies, scrap control, setup time reductions).
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, setup sheets, and work instructions accurately.
- Use scales, calipers, micrometers, and height gauges to ensure parts meet specifications.
- Remove and replace dull cutting tools following safety protocols.
- Mount, align, and secure tools, fixtures, and workpieces using hand tools and measuring instruments.
- Monitor machines during operation for irregular sounds and adjust as needed.
- Adjust machine settings or change tools when malfunctions occur.
- Stop machines to remove finished parts or change tooling according to sequences.
- Lift workpieces manually or with equipment.
- Input control instructions into machine control units.
- Monitor and control coolant systems as necessary.
- Transfer commands via network links to CNC modules.
- Set up future jobs, perform inspections, and maintain work area cleanliness.
- Assist in training new operators.
- Deburr machined parts as required.
- Operate forklifts if certified.
- Follow all safety policies and utilize PPE consistently.
- Communicate verbally and follow instructions accurately.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
- Maintain regular on-site attendance.
Required Education and Experience
- High School diploma or GED required.
- At least two years of experience with CNC machines or similar equipment; apprenticeship or vocational training may substitute or supplement experience.
Other Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and instructions.
- Basic math skills.
- Experience with precision measuring tools.
- Experience verifying flatness and straightness.
- Consistent employment history.
- Completion of internal Level I Operator training and recertification.
- Experience with heavy equipment preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Must be able to perform activities with or without accommodations, including standing, lifting up to 100 pounds, reaching, climbing, bending, inspecting, and distinguishing colors.
Working Conditions
Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, extreme temperatures, and hazardous equipment. PPE is required.
