Job description

Job Summary:

This role includes the duties of a CNC Machine Operator. The operator will operate computer numerical controlled (CNC) machines such as milling machines, lathes, turning centers, and horizontal mills. These machines are used for constructing aircraft interior structural and non-structural parts, including floor fittings, aluminum trims, countertops, and other aluminum, stainless steel, and phenolic parts, based on engineering drawings, company, and customer specifications.

Summary of Duties:
  1. Adhere to company and customer specifications, work instructions, engineering prints, and work orders.
  2. Document materials and processes to maintain traceability of products.
  3. Operate CNC machines safely, including:
  • Loading programs and executing cuts.
  • Cuts raw stock to approximate size.
  • Securing and fixturing raw material.
  • Squaring material if necessary.
  • Monitoring machine operation for proper performance.
  • Deburring parts as time permits.
  • Providing feedback on program and tooling performance.
  • Verifying part accuracy with metrology tools and reporting suspect parts.
  • Ensuring machines are in proper working order and reporting issues.
  • Maintaining cleanliness around the machine.
  • Managing coolant levels and maintenance.
  • Handle raw materials and finished parts carefully to preserve quality.
  • Protect company product confidentiality.
  • Adapt to changing business needs and tasks.
  • Qualifications:
    • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
    • 5+ years of CNC machining experience.
    • Extensive experience with G and M codes.
    • Ability to read and write English proficiently.
    • Good hand-eye coordination and safety awareness.
    • Ability to self-inspect and correct discrepancies.
    • Experience with machinery, pneumatic/hand tools, and aerospace manufacturing.
    • Ability to interpret work orders and engineering blueprints.
    Additional Skills (Preferred):
    • Providing peer review and oversight.
    • Training and reporting skills.
