Job description

Job Summary:
This role includes the duties of the following position: CNC Machine Operator. Operates computer numerical controlled (CNC) machines such as milling machines, lathes, turning centers, and horizontal mills used for constructing aircraft interior structural and non-structural parts, including floor fittings, aluminum trims, countertops, and other aluminum, stainless steel, and phenolic parts, based on engineering drawings, company, and customer specifications. Levels 1, 2, 3 & Lead.

Summary of Duties:

  1. Adheres to company and customer specifications, work instructions, engineering prints, and work orders.
  2. Documents materials and processes used to maintain product traceability.
  3. Operates CNC machines safely, including:
  • Loading programs and executing cuts.
  • Cuts raw stock to approximate size.
  • Secures and fixtures raw stock.
  • Squares material if necessary.
  • Monitors machine operation for proper performance.
  • Deburrs parts as time allows.
  • Provides feedback on program and tooling performance.
  • Verifies part accuracy with measuring tools and reports suspect parts.
  • Ensures machine functionality and reports issues immediately.
  • Keeps machine and surrounding area clean.
  • Maintains coolant levels and quality.

  • Handle raw materials and parts carefully to preserve quality.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company products.
  • Adapt to changing business needs and tasks.
  • Tasks may vary based on division products.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 4-5 years of experience.
  • Basic understanding and operation of CNC machines, G and M code knowledge.
  • Ability to read and write English effectively.
  • Good hand/eye coordination and safety awareness.
  • Self-inspection and discrepancy correction skills.
  • Experience with machinery and pneumatic/hand tools.
  • Ability to interpret work orders and engineering blueprints.
  • Previous aerospace manufacturing experience preferred.

  • Peer review and oversight capabilities for junior operators.
