Job summary

Hubbell Incorporated in Missouri is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to set up and operate 3- and 5-axis CNC mills and lathes, reading blueprints and BOMs to produce parts to tight tolerances. You will adjust tooling, verify first pieces, and perform in-process quality checks while keeping the work area organized and safe.

Qualifications

• Diploma or GED required; basic blueprint reading and measuring instruments.
• Setup and operation of CNC mills and lathes to print specs.
• Quality inspection of first article and in-process parts.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and BOMs to determine specs.
• Set up CNC milling centers and lathes; adjust tooling and feeds.
• Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks.
• Maintain clean, safe work area and follow 5S and PPE guidelines.

Job description

• Performs any assembly-type functions, using hand or power tools
• Set up and Operate 3 and 5 axis CNC milling centers and CNC lathes
• Adjusts, trim and fitting parts to close tolerances
• Follows visual aids (standard work) to ensure work is correct
• Make up cartons, print labels, insert protective packing material, seal finishing product
• Perform quality checks to ensure quality specifications are met
• Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition - 5S
• Must be flexible to rotate job assignments within various work cells
• Performs related duties as assigned by supervision
• Work within all safety guidelines and wear all required PPE
• Perform quality checks to ensure quality specifications are meant.
• Setup, layout and operate various CNC lathes and/or mills
• Reads blueprint or job order for product specificationsand tool instructions
• Selects, positions, and secures tool in tool holder
• Positions and secures work piece in holding device, machine table, chuck, centers or fixtures
• Moves controls to position tool and work piece in relation to each other, and to set specified feeds, speeds and depth of cut
• 1stpiece inspection (check first piece/pieces per blueprints and BOMs)
• Observes operation of machine and verifies conformity of machined work piece to specifications
• Requires ability to read blueprints and precision measuring equipment such as micrometers and calipers
• Keeps work area clean and orderly
• Discusses errors in diagrams or production order with supervisor or engineer to clarify assembly problems

• Solid experience with CNC Tooling, Controls and minor edits running CNC Mill machines
• GED/HS Diploma
