Job summary

Woodsage LLC in Ohio is seeking an experienced CNC Operator to read prints, program, and run complex toolpaths on a diversified CNC range. You will verify parts with calipers and micrometers, adjust setups, and perform advanced operations with tight tolerances.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of CNC experience in production.
  • Knowledge of Woodsage manufacturing techniques (metal forming, laser cutting, drilling, threading, turning).
  • Read prints and apply tolerances with precision measuring tools.
  • Strong attendance history and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Follow written work instructions and read basic print specifications.
  • Operate and adjust CNC machines to perform standard sequences.
  • Write moderately complex CNC programs with minimal supervision.
  • Check parts for conformance using calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Operate safely and stop when safety or quality concerns arise.
  • Set up machine toolings and calibrations per setup instructions.
  • Run more than one unit and perform advanced setups and verification.
  • Perform maintenance and simple repairs on equipment.
  • Maintain safe operations and adhere to procedures.
  • Overtime may be required daily or on weekends.

Job description

The CNC Operator responsibilities include, but may not be limited to,

  • Responsible for following written work instructions and reading basic print specifications.
  • Responsible for operating and adjusting semi-automatic or automatic numerically controlled (CNC) machines to perform standard and repetitive sequences.
  • Capable of writing moderately complex CNC programs at the machine nearly unsupervised.
  • Responsible for checking parts for conformance to specifications, using digital and or analog calipers, micrometers, and go/no-go gauging.
  • Required to operate equipment safely and recognize conditions that require a stoppage whether it be safety or quality related.
  • Work from machine setup instructions defining tool arrangements, material clamping methods, and machine calibrations for operations Checks parts for conformance to specifications.
  • Operators may run more than one unit simultaneously.
  • Performs advanced setup operations, adjusts, and verifies programs and operates CNC machine tools to perform a complex series of progressive machining operations on a diversified line of work to close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications requiring a high degree of skill.
  • Ability to perform advanced maintenance and simple repairs to their assigned equipment.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • A minimum of 5 years of combined training and prior CNC experience in a Production environment.
  • The job requires knowledge of manufacturing techniques unique to Woodsage such as metal forming, laser cutting, drilling, threading, turning etc.
  • Requires a broad knowledge of manufacturing techniques and familiarity with computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tool operating procedures.
  • Can use and apply more advanced shop mathematics such as basic trigonometry.
  • Must be able to set up machine to produce parts to a part print and layout. This involves changing collets, cutting tools, and adjusting machines and tools.
  • Must have the skill to read prints, decipher tolerances, proven capability with measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, bore gages, vision systems, etc.
  • Must have positive attitude and ability to take complete ownership of area.
  • A work history that supports a good to excellent attendance record.
  • Able to work well in a team-oriented work environment.
Physical requirements:
  • Walking, Standing, Sitting Kneeling (Frequently).
  • Lifting, Carrying up to 50 pounds (Occasionally).
  • Temperatures (Occasionally).
Additional Notes:
  • May require daily and/ or weekend overtime.
