Job summary

Alamo Structural Steel in Claremont, NH is seeking a manufacturing technician to support coil operations and quality control. You will inspect materials, read orders, operate equipment, perform basic maintenance, load materials, and run hoists while maintaining a safe work environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and at least six months of production machinery experience. Night and weekend shifts with differential pay are available.

Qualifications

  • Six months of experience operating various types of production machinery preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Rigorously inspect materials before, during, and after processing to ensure quality control.
  • Read and interpret written instructions from orders and cut-sheets.
  • Ensure machines are operating properly and safely.
  • Provide basic maintenance to machines to keep them running.
  • Prepare materials and mount coil in the hub.
  • Operate hoists and perform preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Diagnose faults and troubleshoot to keep production on track.
  • Maintain a safe, clean work environment and comply with procedures.
  • Comply with company policies and OSHA regulations.

Minimum Starting Salary

Minimum Starting Salary: $21.00 to $28.00 per hour - depending on experience.

Nights

Nights: Monday - Thursday 4:30pm to 3:00am - Plus a $2.00 shift differential

Weekends

Weekends: Friday - Sunday 5:00am-5:30pm - you work 36hrs, get paid for 40hrs as long as you work the full scheduled shift. Plus a $3.00 shift differential for every hour associated with the Weekend Shift.

Essential Functions
  • Rigorously inspect materials before, during, and after processing to ensure quality control of the finished product
  • Read and interpret written instructions from manufacturing work orders and cut-sheets
  • Ensure machines are operating properly and safely
  • Provides basic maintenance to the machine(s) to properly operate
  • Prepare materials to be processed and mounted coil in the hub
  • Operate hoists and check periodically to plan preventative maintenance assigned to the truck production functions
  • Runs full diagnosis and treatment of faults and/or situations that affect the functioning of the designated machine
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Comply with Company and OSHA policies
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge and ability to distinguish different types of materials.
  • Knowledge of metal and basic shop fabrication equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, engineering specifications, and troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Ability to operate forklift, overhead crane, and tractor-trailer
  • Ability to withstand pressure and adapt to changes
  • Ability to multi-task while meeting strict deadlines

Physical Requirements
  • Frequent prolonged standing, be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
  • Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual agility, coordination, and stamina.
