Job summary

Precise Aerospace Manufacturing is seeking an experienced 1st Shift CNC Lead to support our CNC machining operations. This hands-on leadership role assists CNC Operators, supports machine set-ups, troubleshoots production issues, and maintains an efficient workflow throughout the shift.

Collaboration with CNC Supervisor, Production, Engineering, and Quality ensures goals are met with high safety, quality, and productivity standards.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of CNC machining and set-up experience in a manufacturing environment.
• 1+ years of lead, supervisory, or team leadership experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up CNC mills and lathes following work instructions, drawings, and travelers.
• Perform basic CNC programming, adjustments and offsets.

Job description

Precise Aerospace Manufacturing is seeking an experienced 1st Shift CNC Lead to support our CNC machining operations. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for assisting CNC Operators, supporting machine set-ups, troubleshooting production and machining issues, and helping maintain an efficient workflow throughout the shift. The CNC Lead will work closely with the CNC Supervisor, Production, Engineering, and Quality to ensure production goals are met while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and productivity.

Location Yorba Linda, Ca

Hours: 6am-2:30pm plus OT

Pay: DOE $24-$30 an hour

Key Responsibilities

1. CNC Set-Up & Technical Support

• Perform set-ups on CNC mills and lathes according to work instructions, drawings, travelers, and production requirements.
• Perform basic CNC programming, program adjustments, and applicable machine offsets.
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, set-up, and process issues during the shift.
• Assist CNC Operators with machine operation, set-ups, tooling, and process questions.
• Verify machines are properly set up and ready for production.
• Escalate significant equipment, tooling, programming, or process concerns to the CNC Supervisor, Production Manager, Engineering, or Quality as appropriate.

2. Shift Lead Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day guidance and technical support to CNC Operators on first shift.
• Help coordinate daily work assignments and production priorities as directed by the CNC Supervisor or Production Manager.
• Monitor workflow throughout the shift and communicate issues that may affect production schedules.
• Help ensure employees follow established work instructions, processes, safety requirements, and company policies.
• Support training of new and existing CNC Operators on machine operation, set-ups, work instructions, and department procedures.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, good communication, and a productive work environment.
• Communicate shift status, incomplete work, machine issues, quality concerns, and other important information to management and/or the incoming shift.
• Escalate employee performance, attendance, conduct, or other personnel concerns to the CNC Supervisor or Production Manager.

3. Quality

• Perform first-piece, in-process, and other required inspections using applicable measuring and inspection equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, tolerances, travelers, and work instructions.
• Verify completed parts meet dimensional and quality requirements before continuing production.
• Ensure required production and inspection documentation is completed accurately.
• Identify nonconforming parts or processes and notify Quality and/or management as appropriate.
• Assist Operators in understanding inspection requirements and proper use of measuring equipment.
• Support corrective actions and troubleshooting related to machining or quality issues.

4. Safety & Housekeeping

• Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment throughout the first shift.
• Ensure required PPE and established safety procedures are followed.
• Identify unsafe conditions or equipment concerns and escalat them promptly.
• Encourage proper machine operation and safe work practices among CNC Operators.
• Perform additional duties and provide support to production operations as needed to meet business and production requirements.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of CNC machining and set-up experience in a manufacturing environment.
• 1+ years of lead, supervisory, or team leadership experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience setting up CNC mills and/or lathes.
• Working knowledge of CNC programming, offsets, tooling, and machining processes.
• Experience performing dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other applicable inspection equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, tolerances, and work instructions.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to effectively guide, train, and communicate with CNC Operators.
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality, safety, and productivity.
