Job description

Join to apply for the CNC Lathe Programmer role at HORST Engineering

This position is integral to our programming and engineering team, supporting the production of precision aerospace components. The role acts as a liaison between Engineering and Manufacturing teams, focusing on process development and programming of CNC equipment, including multi-axis lathes. The successful candidate will split their time between programming in a CAM environment and performing hands-on setup on the production floor.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develop CNC programs using ESPIRT CAM software to optimize manufacturing processes for precision components.
  • Collaborate with Engineering & Manufacturing teams to develop manufacturing processes, tooling, work-holding, and metrology procedures, documenting all selections in ESPIRT libraries.
  • Use parametric programming, macros, and CAM software to optimize programs across related parts.
  • Set up and operate production equipment during initial process development.
  • Determine optimal setup parameters, tool paths, and material removal rates.
  • Train production personnel to ensure reproducibility in mass production.
  • Manage programs and setup data within the company's PDM and DNC systems.
  • Participate in lean events to improve productivity and quality.
  • Stay updated with the latest manufacturing technologies and recommend investments.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred or equivalent experience.
  • At least five years of advanced manufacturing experience, preferably in precision or ultra-precision machining centers.
  • Expertise in CNC programming with Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Okuma controls, and advanced programming techniques.
  • Proficient with CAM software such as ESPIRT, Mastercam, PartMaker, or SolidCAM.
  • Experience with manufacturing enterprise software like EPCIOR is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of work-holding, tooling systems, and CNC machine setup.

Physical Demands: This role involves activities such as lifting up to 50 lbs, standing, walking, manipulating, squatting, bending, and reaching above shoulder level, with varying frequency as per activity.
